About me
Julie Lara serves as the director of the English Learner Support Division at TEA. Prior to her current role, she supported Texas students with disabilities for 2 years as a Manager on the Review and Support Monitoring team in the Special Education Division of the TEA.She also served as a special education technical assistance provider for the agency. Additionally, she was a college professor and lecturer in the areas of special education and multiculturalism. She began her career as a special educator, serving middle school and high school students with disabilities.
Dr. Lara is committed to elevating achievement and equity for emergent bilingual students and developing state-wide supports that promote empowerment for their families and communities.
